MEDITATION

To take up meditation is to introduce a powerful force for change into your life. If you change your mind, then the world around you changes too.

Meditation is a known antidote to stress, a way to become calmer, more mindful and more emotionally positive. Over time it can fundamentally transform how we understand ourselves and the world around us.

We teach two meditation practices: the mindfulness of breathing, which enhances our awareness and peace of mind; and the Metta bhavana – the development of loving kindness – which brings about a gentle but potentially radical transformation in our emotional experience.

We teach meditation as part of our existing Tuesday evenings. I also offer an introduction to meditation course once a year at the Friends Meeting House when there are enough people interested.

Steps to Enlightenment

6-week course starting Tuesday 3rd September at the Friends Meeting House, Kings Lynn 7pm – 9pm – suitable for beginners and those with an established practice.

We are a small friendly group. The evening includes periods of meditation – full guidance given.

How to walk the Buddhist path to Enlightenment

Reading books, sporadic meditation, flitting between teachers and piecemeal teachings can all give some sense of Buddhism, but leads only to spiritual stagnation. A path of more regular steps towards spiritual growth is required…

This movement from a sporadic and irregular spiritual practice to one with momentum and consistency is central in making actual progress on the path.

On this six-week course we’ll explore what it means to walk the path of Buddhist practice in a regular and systematic way, such that we experience an ever-deepening flavour of Enlightenment in our lives.

Monday Evening Study Sessions On Zoom

Yoga

Viprasanna will be teaching yoga at Castle Acre (15 Sept) and Thornham (1 Dec) and on retreat in Spain in September and October.

The style of yoga taught is a blend of familiar postures (Asanas) with Pranayama and more ‘inner’ meditative practices derived from Tibetan Buddhism.
The practice of traditional Yoga consists of 5 main paths – HATHA (postures), RAJA (meditation), KARMA (altruistic action in the world), BHAKTI (devotional practices including chanting) and JNANA (study and the pursuit of wisdom) and is a perfect vehicle for deepening Buddhist practices of developing positivity, open-heartedness, insight into ourselves and the deeper levels of our being.
